Overview
Lamu Island is an ancient Swahili town with no roads or vehicles with narrow cool maze-like streets which you can explore on a donkey’s back or just take a walk. Its streets are designed wide enough to allow only the passage of camels and donkeys. On a shopping spree there are carvings, brass & gold, Arab sea chests and lots of intriguing artifacts, and a visit to the Lamu museum is what you should not miss. A dhow ride to the neighboring islands will make your experience more memorable.
